Analogue and Digital Imagery

What is a travel photograph? For me, it is an image that has an attachment to a place other than my home. Also, an image that with others tells a story, or asks a question. Travel images therefore have a documentary or journalistic flavour. That means in addition to Nature and Landscapes, the people who either inhabit or visit that place. There are also ethical questions relating to travel and tourism for westerners such as myself that I acknowledge. Where possible therefore, I try and depict images that do not fit with the travel brochures or challenge our mental image of tourist destinations. As I write this however almost all exploration even within my local area is forbidden. Hopefully that will change soon.
